About Caregiving in the Workplace

Caregiving in the Workplace is a multiyear initiative examining how family caregiving affects workers, employers, and the employee benefits system. Developed by the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) and Greenwald Research, the initiative runs through 2027 and combines survey research, employer resources, and national events to help organizations better respond to caregiving-related pressures across the workforce.

Through research, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, the initiative brings together leading organizations to reimagine how caregiving is supported at work. By combining data and real-world expertise, it aims to drive more responsive, inclusive, and sustainable solutions for employees and their families.

Research Collaboration

Research collaborators help connect evidence with real-world practice, informing innovation in workplace caregiving benefits.

Building on EBRI and Greenwald Research’s longstanding collaboration, the initiative also draws on three flagship surveys—the Retirement Confidence Survey, the Workplace Wellness Survey, and the Consumer Engagement in Health Care Survey—to generate a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of how caregiving affects workers’ lives and the role benefits can play in supporting them.

The Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) is a nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization created in 1978 for the purpose of contributing to sound employee benefit programs and public policy through independent, objective, fact-based research and education.
